Weymouth Reserves give a debut to Gerry De La Planque when they receive Lymington in the Wessex Combination at Radipole Lane tomorrow (3pm).

The veteran striker joins the Terras from Dorset Premier League strugglers, Weymouth Sports.

Boss Dave Kiteley explained: “Some might raise an eyebrow because at 29, Gerry’s no spring chicken, but I’ve brought him mainly for his experience. I’ve known him for many, many years and people tend to forget that he led Bridport’s line for a long time and never looked out of place against sides like Tiverton and Taunton. He’s a good trainer and wants to put something back into the game and certainly it will be good to have another wise head around along with Paul Gadsby and Mark Nicholson.”

He added: “The other reason he’s here is because I needed another striker to put a bit of pressure on Stuart Frear and Mark Fitch. At the moment those two pick themselves and so a bit of competition won’t do any harm.”

Weymouth go into the game looking to avenge a 2-1 defeat at Fawcetts Field earlier in the season, and they could be boosted by up to five players who played against Yeovil in the week.

“Paul Gadsby, John Lamb, Michael Sajic and Scott Dennis all did themselves justice against Yeovil,” Kiteley added, “and I’m hoping they can take that same tempo into the game tomorrow.

“Mark Kenway also had a tidy game at the heart of the defence and it’s likely that he’ll be with us because he’s in need of match practice after a long injury lay off.

“Lymington are always a tough side to play against and this starts a run of big games in December for us with Bashley and Eastleigh to come.”

Terras: Gadsby, Dennis, Walker, Kenway, Critchell, Lamb, Lambert, Mutch, Sajic, Bichard, Frear, Fitch, Nicholson, De La Planque, Hill, Borthwick.
