Weymouth Football Club are delighted to announced the signing of Adam Wilde from Worcester City for a five-figure fee. The skilful left winger joins the Terras on a two-year contract.

Wilde, 24, impressed Steve Claridge during the matches against Worcester last season and the player/manager has been tracking him for several months.

Said Claridge: “Adam is a player I have admired ever since we played against Worcester and he will bring us that bit of quality we need if we are to make an impact in the new Nationwide South division of the Conference.”

Wilde began his career as an apprentice at Cambridge United before switching to Cambridge City, from whom Worcester signed him two seasons ago.

During his time at St George’s Lane, he earned a call-up to the England semi-professional team and made his debut in February of last year against Belgium Under 21s.

Said Terras chairman Ian Ridley: “The first thing to be said is that Adam’s signing has been made possible by Martyn Harrison, who has made funds available for this signing. We are deeply indebted to him.

“I hope this exciting signing shows that the club mean business next season and although we are never going to seek to compete financially with some in our new league who have gone full-time, we aim to be up there challenging again.

“Adam is a quality player and with his trickiness and crossing ability is more than capable of providing the ammunition for Steve and Lee Phillips up front. As his fine goal against us at the Wessex showed, he can also chip in with a few himself.”

Steve Claridge is also negotiating with several other potential new signings and the club hopes to be in a position to conclude the deals in the near future.
