GARRY Hill has started his end of season clearout early at the Wessex Stadium by releasing non-contract players Mark Boyce and Keiren Keane.

And more will follow in the next couple of weeks as Hill makes room for the players he believes the Terras need to mount a promotion challenge next season.

“I have informed Mark and Keiren that they will not be with me next season and I think they appreciated my honesty in making an early decision because it gives them more time to look for new clubs,” said Hill.

“I have other players on contract until the end of the season who are not part of my long term plans and I will be talking to them over the next few days.

There is no doubt about it – there will be a lot of changes in respect of the playing staff at Weymouth at the end of the season because I think that is what is required.”

Boyce and Keane were both signed by Hill’s predecessor Steve Johnson.

Keane, 22, had trials with Oldham, Leeds and Watford after returning from a four year stint in the States where he played for Chicago Fire in the Major League.

He then went down with glandular fever and moved on to Woking where he suffered a medial ligament injury.

Johnson’s brother, who is on the staff at Woking, then recommended to the Terras.

Boyce, 24, was one of Johnson’s first signings last November when he joined the Terras from Ryman Premier club Hampton and Richmond.

An ex- Watford, Aldershot, Hayes and Kingstonian full-back, he also lists Yeovil among his former clubs.
