DESPITE suffering back-to-back defeats in all competitions, Terras’ boss Jason Matthews remained encouraged by his side’s performance at Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday.

Matthews believed his side stood up to their higher level opposition impeccably, even though Jamie Slabber’s early goal meant they bowed out of the FA Trophy in a 1-0 loss at Vauxhall Road.

Reflecting on the contest, he told Echosport: “It was a great performance from us and you come away scratching your head as to why we didn’t get something out of it.

“On the whole there were some great individual performances.

“We had seven or eight good chances at Dunstable (the previous week) and four or five good chances at Hemel and it’s just not quite gone for us.

“I’d be more frustrated if we weren’t creating chances and, at the minute, I think we are playing really well.”

He added: “I am really confident the tide will turn. We have made it no secret that our main priority is the league, I know it’s easy to say that when you have gone out the cup, but that is our main aim this year.

“Where Hemel are at the moment is where we want to be next season and that remains the aim.

“We are frustrated but we move on and I am still in a really positive frame of mind.”
