GUTTED Jordan Copp admits he is going to find it tough to sit out a three-game ban after what he described as a “five-second head loss” cost him at St Neots Town.

Copp, who was set to see out the first game of his suspension against Poole on Saturday before that game was postponed, will now have to wait even longer to serve his time for a sending off against the Saints last month.

The former Plymouth youngster reacted to a nasty lunge by Saints’ Ben Jones in a heated moment that sparked both benches to become animated with one another.

Describing his view of the incident, which also earnt Jones a second yellow, Copp, who trained with the Terras at the weekend after the washout against the Dolphins was announced, claimed: “It was just a five-second head loss, red mist came down.

“I got stamped on about two minutes before it happened by the same guy and nothing was really made of it.

“He then absolutely flew into me with two legs off the floor and I managed to hurdle it. Everyone has said to me if my leg was planted it would have been snapped.

“I spoke to Jason (Matthews) and I have apologised to all the boys. I was stupid to react the way I did because I wasn’t even overly angry.

“It’s cost me stupidly but there’s nothing I can do now other than sit down and watch, which is going to be frustrating.

“I don’t know why I did it.

“I don’t help myself at times. I really make things difficult.”

Copp was then left out by manager Jason Matthews for the Ridgeway derby with Dorchester Town on Boxing Day, a decision he admitted that he could fully understand.

Copp added: “It was difficult to take because I obviously wanted to play in it but when I spoke to Jase and Sillsy (Tim Sills) before the game they were gutted telling me.

“But I understood because I had let them down the week before and I had been expecting it.

“It was difficult because I let myself down and I let the rest of the boys down.

“I just have to sit back and hope the time goes as quick as possible now really.

“If I’m honest, it’s boring sat there watching!

“If I’m not playing I don’t really want to be watching but if the boys win I have no complaints.”

* Saturday’s results mean Weymouth now lie sixth in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division standings.

They remain 15 points off the pace of league leaders Poole with three games in hand.
