MIDFIELDER Billy Lowes admitted he was in dreamland after scoring a derby-day cracker to set the ball rolling in the Terras’ 2-1 win over Dorchester Town.

The former Poole Town man unleashed a rasping effort from all of 30 yards, a goal worthy of winning any game, to break the deadlock in the Ridgeway clash at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

And, although he admitted he was unsure on how to celebrate when the ball flew into the corner, he claimed there was “no better feeling” than when that sweet strike hit the net.

“I could not believe it, I felt like I was dreaming,” he told Echosport following the contest.

“Before the game Mark Molesley said to us ‘they are going to drop deep, so, if you have space in there, have a shot. Do you know what? I just did it!

“I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t know where to celebrate or where to run.

“There is no better feeling than that.

“On a day where there are all those people there, there is just no better feeling and I am so happy.”

On the game as a whole, he said: “The performance from all of the lads to drive to the end and keep the win was unbelievable.

“Considering I was the one that gave away their free-kick and they scored from it, it was a bit difficult then!

“But we worked hard, got our result and we are happy.

“I feel Dorchester brought it to us, they worked hard but you just have to have the heart and the desire to win and that’s what we did. We just wanted it more than they did, I feel.”

He added: “We haven’t done very well to start the season but now we have got those results over the weekend, hopefully now we can push on.”
