TONY Lee says Weymouth’s first day of pre-season was better than the clubs he has been at in the past after the Terras resumed training on Saturday.

Lee joined from AFC Totton during May and has been immediately impressed by his new club.

Lee said: “The set-up is as professional as it could be, they want to do things right which I want to do as well.

“Other clubs have been good but I do not think they have been to the standard of Weymouth.”

The striker appreciated the first training session at Blandford School, despite the scorching weather it took place in.

Lee said: “It has been good the heat has not helped whatsoever but they are a good group of boys and it was a hard session that I think everybody expected.

“It was good to get underway.”

The first day involved fitness drills as well as a lot of routines on the ball.

The Terras are getting ready to play their first pre-season friendly against Bournemouth Under-23s on Saturday at the Bob Lucas Stadium (1pm).

Lee said: “It was quite good to do a bit of running, although the heat wasn’t. As soon we got into a bit of ball possession and matches it was a good productive first day.”

He is also looking forward to gelling with all of his new team mates ahead of the season but thinks they will gel quite quickly.

Lee said: “I think as pre-season goes on I think we will be alright and we will gel quite quickly.”

Lee is looking forward to the friendlies and admits he wants to just get underway with playing.

Lee said: “I think all of the boys would rather be playing than running around cones and poles and stuff like that but yes we have got a good few games coming up.

“We have got a few other tough pre-season games but I think the boys just want to get underway now, play a few games and get into the rhythm of it and be ready for the season.”
