WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley described the signing of Josh McQuoid as ‘a real coup for the club’, after he joined the Terras.

Former Bournemouth man McQuoid’s signing was announced alongside Antonio Diaz and Matt Casey, with the latter on work experience forms.

Molesley said: “I think Josh McQuoid needs no introduction.

“I think it is a real coup for the club that he has managed to come down and I think that is credit to Weymouth Football Club, and the environment that we have created and the players which are already here. He obviously felt that this would work for him at the moment so we are delighted to have him.”

McQuoid played for 72 minutes in the 2-2 draw at Winchester City before being replaced by a trialist, while Diaz and Casey were second-half substitutes.

Molesley said: “We are delighted to get the three on board, I think that sort of covers us off now.

“I think that will be our business done at the moment so like I said I am happy with that squad, I am happy with that group of players. It is up to me now and my staff to get the best out of them and find the right way of doing it.”

When asked if there will be no more comings or goings, Molesley responded: “No not at the moment, well you never say never in football.

“With the loan signing of the defender Matt (Casey) I think that gives us a bit more cover there and I think he came on and in the second half he really grew into the game so I was pleased with his contributions (against Winchester City).”

McQuoid played alongside Molesley in the Bournemouth side in the Legends match against Weymouth, and previously played with the Terras’ boss at Bournemouth.

Molesley said: “I played with Zubes (Stephane Zubar) and McQuoid back in the day but it is a long time ago.

“We have all grown up since then so I know exactly what he is and what he can bring.

“Like I said for one reason or another he has ended up wanting to stay a little bit more local now.

“We find it has worked for both parties so we are delighted.

“What a coup for the club and it is up to us now to get the best out of him and get the best out of the team.”
