MARK Molesley defended Weymouth goalkeeper Tom McHale after his tough start to life between the sticks for the Terras.

McHale has conceded 11 goals in five games for Weymouth, with seven of those coming in two matches.

McHale initially re-joined the Terras prior to the Salisbury match, and has played every game since, which has proved a difficult spell for Weymouth.

In that time the Terras have won two, lost two and drawn one match, the latter being the frantic 4-4 draw with the Met Police on Saturday.

The Terras’ boss admitted it was not ideal for them to be on their third goalkeeper of the season, with Jordan Seabright and Lloyd Thomas having left the club.

Molesley said: “It is always difficult, it is not ideal to be on your third goalkeeper during the season.

“Unfortunately we have had two goalkeepers that did not quite have the fight, they did not think the club was for them and we are on our third goalkeeper now.

“It is not ideal but what I will say is that we all know what a good goalkeeper he (McHale) is and what potential he has.

“Each game he is getting stronger and he knows what we expect of him.

“He is a goalkeeper that can certainly grow and get better with us.”
