MARK Molesley described the signing of Brennan Camp as ‘an opportunity not to be missed’, after Weymouth signed the youngster on a youth loan from AFC Bournemouth.

The announcement came the same day he returned to Bournemouth following the end of his loan to Dorchester Town.

Molesley said: “I think it was an opportunity not to be missed because we know that he is a good player and like I said it gives us a good back up and it makes our squad stronger by having him.

“He is getting experience at Bournemouth with the under-18s and the under-23s plus his international experience this year so he has had plenty of good football and if he gets the opportunity to play for Weymouth again this year then that will be another great experience for him.

“He is no stranger to Weymouth, he knows all about the club, I think he has watched them many a time growing up and he is a great lad with a good attitude and with hopefully a bright future in the game.”

Camp, 18, is originally from Portland and joins Weymouth as their title challenge enters the final stretch.

Weymouth currently have Callum Buckley and Tiago Sa among their defenders currently out injured, but have had their regular centre-back partnership of Stephane Zubar and Sam Sherring back together for several weeks.

When asked about whether defence was something Molesley was particularly looking to reinforce, the Terras boss admitted that it was one of their lighter areas.

Molesley said: “No I just think at the moment, with Buckers (Callum Buckley) not completely back fit yet, the opportunity arose that Brennan’s loan at Dorchester was going to be finishing and he is a good fit for us.

“He will work exactly how we will want to work he is a great lad with a good attitude and like I said I think he could support the group really well. If we were to be unfortunate in any area then the defence is probably one of our lighter areas. So we are pleased to have him on board.

“He is a young lad but he is making strides this season and has had a lot of good experiences and is one that I think would fit into our group well, and provide good reinforcement going into the business end of the season.”

Meanwhile, The winners of the Weymouth FC Claret and Blue lottery March 2019 draw are: Hilary Billimore from Verwood, Mathew Miller, from Weymouth, and Dave Parsons from Weymouth.
