BRANDON Goodship has been a goal-machine this season and was recognised as the Brandon Hire Step Three/Four Player of the Year for his performances with Weymouth.
Goodship scored 39 goals in 51 appearances during the campaign, including five hat-tricks and another 15 assists for his teammates. Goodship joined the Terras in June 2017, the striker has been a revelation at the Bob Lucas Stadium, propelling the team to a fifth-place finish and a play-off semi-final in his first season under Mark Molesley, but has reached new heights this year.
“Last season we had a really good year and finished on 97 points but got undone to three wonder goals in the the play-off semi-final against King’s Lynn,” said Goodship, who was called up the to the England C team back in March.
“So we knew that this season, if we had to same sort of form we would be there or thereabouts and thankfully we were able to finish at the top of the tree and I am absolutely delighted.
“The coaching staff and everyone at the club has pulled in the same direction this year and there are so many people there that put in the hard work and don’t get recognition but we have a great chemistry at the club.
“It is a real honour and I think there are 118 teams, so to be the one player that was picked out of all of those was pretty special so it is nice to know that all my hard work has paid off.
“I’ve got my team-mates to thank to for giving me the ball and creating spaces around me so that I can do the business.
“It is massively important because you don’t realise how much it means to people.
“This is my first season playing full-time non-league football and to see what goes on behind the scenes has been amazing.
“This is a big club with a good following and I am sure that we will have a great season next year too because the quality in the dressing room is second-to-none and there are some really good players in there.”
