WHAT a difference a week makes. On the Saturday before last, Weymouth had a tough fixture at home to Thurrock. This was going to be a big test for the Terras who showed many changes in their side.

If we are going to have any chance of reaching the end of season play-offs then these kind of matches are ones that need to be won.

Early in the game, Weymouth took control with an excellent goal by free-kick specialist Danny Byrne. An awful decision brought the visitors back into the game when they equalised with a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

The hosts tried to regain their lead but a Thurrock substitute scored with his first touch, and from probably their first attack of the second half, on 76 minutes to snatch the victory and leave the Terras’ fans hugely disappointed.

During the week Steve Tully handed in a transfer-request, stating that the club were not going in the right direction and also that we are not good enough. All of this has left a bitter taste with Terras’ fans as the Thurrock match proved we are nearly there.

Off to Basingstoke Town last weekend, and a large vocal traveling support were trying to make the 12th man really count. Our last breath was good enough as in the 90th minute Byrne stepped up to take a free-kick and curl the ball past the helpless keeper and give the Terras the three points.

The new players saw how much it meant for us Terras’ fans at Basingstoke, and enjoyed the atmosphere which carried on after the final whistle in the bar. I hope that is a factor that will spur the players on for the remaining 14 games, knowing that it can and will only get better.
