A GALAXY of stars – including G4, Tony Hadley and Aled Jones – will appear at the Wessex Stadium this summer for fundraising concerts for Weymouth Football Club.

The famous faces have been booked for a pop and a classical music concert – and there is also a football tournament likely to feature ex-England internationals such as Paul Gascoigne and David Seaman.

The bill for the Legends In Concert show on Friday, June 24 is headed by former Spandau Ballet vocalist Tony Hadley with support from singer Martin Fry with ’80s favourites ABC, as well as Go West.

Meanwhile, Proms On The Pitch the following day, Saturday, June 25, features a wealth of classical content.

Popular male vocal quartet G4 will prove their crossover credentials by singing a range of songs from Bohemian Rhapsody to Nessun Dorma.

Also on the bill is former pop babe Myleene Klass – who shot to fame as part of reality television group
Hear’Say and who has gone back to her classical roots.

Soprano Sarah Ryan will also be performing live with a 45piece orchestra.

The chorister-turned-broadcaster Aled Jones, well-known for singing a version of Walking in the Air adapted from The Snowman as well as hosting Songs of Praise, is also billed to appear.

Famous veteran footballers such as Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne, David Seaman, John Barnes, Brian Robson, Ian Rush and pundit Tony Cottee will tackle a seven-a-side invitational tournament on Sunday, July 3.

The ex-professionals will rub shoulders with former star players from Weymouth, Yeovil and Bournemouth in the Wessex Masters and International Legends Tournament.

Terras chairman Martyn Harrison said: “This is good entertainment and is making money to build the team for promotion.”

Promoter Lester Holcombe said: “Legends In Concert is time to relive all those 80s moments and Proms On The Pitch will be a great family night out bring your picnics and share an evening of music and fireworks.

“The Wessex Masters and International Legends Tournament will give fans the chance to meet and see their favourite players in action as part of a relaxed and fun day.”
