WEYMOUTH Reserves are set to embark on a new era when the Dorset Premier League season kicks off tomorrow, and new manager Bradley Asagba cannot wait to get their competitive schedule underway.

The Terras’ reserves, who finished fifth in the league under former boss Jake Richmond last term, begin with a home clash against Parley Sports on Saturday (3pm).

And while he has been finding his feet in the job over the summer, reserves’ chief Asagba admits he feels “privileged” to be part of the Weymouth staff.

He told Echosport: “From Chris (Pugsley) the chairman all the way down to Tuney (Dave Tune) the kitman and everybody in between, everyone has made me feel really welcome and working with Jason (Matthews) and Paul (Maitland) is fantastic.

“I go along with them when I can and we speak and see each other regularly. That part of it has been absolutely brilliant.

“We have trained quite closely as well in both squads, they haven’t really been separated that much and that has been really pleasing, to be honest.

“As a manager, where you see more layers to the club in what goes on, it really dawned on me how massive the place is. It’s a huge club and I am privileged to be in the position I am.”

Weymouth Reserves are expected to line up with a whole host of new faces this term under their new regime.

From last season’s squad, Gareth Will has gone to Portland, Jamie Beasley is at Bridport and the likes of Jamie West, Ashley Staines and Szymon Matuszewski among others are all set to feature elsewhere.
