Midfield ace Rigg is eager for comeback

GEORGE Rigg is doing all he can to fully recover from his ongoing ankle injury and boost the Terras’ squad in the coming weeks.

The midfield ace has been ruled out of taking to the field since hobbling off against Wimborne Town in the Red Insure Cup last month.

Saturday’s Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division clash at Merthyr Town is likely come too soon for Rigg but he has been highly aided in his recovery quest by Back 2 Action, a sports performance consultancy owned by vastly experienced sports therapist Rayan Wilson.

The company specialises in strength and conditioning and sports rehabilitation and, thanks to their help, Rigg has been able to fully assess and examine the injury, as well as keep up to speed.

The former Bristol City and Stoke man, who also used Back 2 Action alongside some top Premier League stars in the summer, said: “I am part of that camp throughout the season and I always have it there.

“It’s amazing to have it, they look after you like you are the best.

“I have been doing a lot of upper body work and some squats. I have been able to train partly on it but I couldn’t really twist and turn like I would have if I had played football.”

Speaking further about the injury, Rigg added: “The next day (after the Wimborne game) I woke up and my ankle was massive.

“I could see the bruising starting to come out and I then had a big problem with certain movements in my ankle.”

Quizzed on having to view the Terras from the sidelines rather than feature himself, the midfielder claimed: “It’s frustrating, I hate having to watch but that’s part and parcel of it.

“We have suffered with injuries with Mark Molesley and Kells (Adam Kelly) as well, we all got injured at pretty much the same time but the lads that have come in have done really well.

“It’s good that we have that balance in the team. One player replaces another and nobody worries about it.”

Rigg also wished to thank Wilson and Back 2 Action for their support.
