JASON Matthews is not at all worried about comments made by Poole Town’s Tom Killick, insisting “I don’t want to play silly games”.

Dolphins’ chief Killick said that “If I was at Weymouth, I would probably be disappointed with where I am now” in an interview with the Daily Echo ahead of the sides’ washed out clash at Tatnam last Saturday.

He also added: “They (Weymouth) would view last season as a bit of a disaster, not to have finished in the play-offs with the team they had.”

Following the Terras’ 1-1 draw with Paulton Rovers last night, Matthews’ men currently sit 14 points behind their Dorset rivals and league leaders with two games in hand.

Asked what he thought about the Poole manager’s words, Matthews told Echosport: “If I was in Poole’s shoes I would be very disappointed with how they ended last season.

“I don’t want to play silly games. I am interested in what Weymouth Football Club are doing and not what Poole Town are doing.

“If he (Killick) is interested in what we are doing then we must be doing something right.

“Tom is an experienced manager and I have no qualms with Tom. He runs his ship and they have stolen a little bit of a march in the league.

“It is up to us to rein them in and I will be doing my utmost this season to do that.”

Terras’ ace Jordan Copp also aired his views on the claims from the Tatnam manager and believes the Weymouth players are taking them with a pinch of salt.

He added: “We have all had a little read up of Killick’s comments and he likes to play a few games.

“It’s all harmless and we know what he’s like.

“Although Poole are running away with it a little bit I think it will be a lot closer than people are expecting.

“I think he needs to concentrate on his own team and let’s hope they don’t slip up. It’s cost them a couple of times now so I’m sure it’s playing on his mind a little bit.”

* Weymouth’s rescheduled trip to Poole Town has been rearranged for Tuesday, February 2 (7.45pm).
