GEORGE Rigg is set to come back into the Weymouth squad for their trip to Hungerford Town on Saturday, after declaring himself fit following a nasty head injury.

The former Bristol City and Stoke City midfielder, who required 16 stitches above the eye after a clash with Kettering Town’s Paul Walker last month, trained with the Terras last week and was willing to risk the injury in last Saturday’s clash against Leamington.

But with that game washed out, Rigg insists he will be raring to go in what is a huge game near the top of the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Rigg, who has watched Weymouth suffer losses at Bedworth and Poole during his spell out, told Echosport: “To be fair it has worked out quite well for me.

“I was going to be fit for the Saturday just gone but it was still a bit sore because it was still healing. It would have been a bit risky.

“We can start again at Hungerford and obviously Dean (Evans) is back in now after his suspension. Hopefully we can get a result and get back on a run again.”

He added: “I thought when we were away at Bedworth and lost it was a bad performance but against Poole we did quite well.

“Before the sending off I thought we could have gone on and won it but when they were playing against 10 men, they opened us up quite a lot.”
