BOSS Jason Matthews heaped praise on Terras’ match-winner Tim Sills after he came off bench to record a vital winner at Hungerford Town.
Former Torquay and Aldershot man Sills, who is player-assistant-manager to Matthews at the Bob Lucas Stadium, has only featured flittingly on the field for the club in league action this season but delivered the goods when it really mattered against the Crusaders in a 1-0 win.
Speaking about his assistant, Matthews, whose side are now just three points off the play-off places in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division, told Echosport: “He has been an outstanding assistant to me this year and we are a good team now.
“His performance when he came on was superb.
“He came on, got under Hungerford’s skin and they couldn’t handle him. Going up the slope he was a very big asset and won nearly all his headers.
“For me, around five seasons ago, he was the best striker in non-League football and he is a good asset to have.”
On the triumph itself, he added: “It was a massive win.
“I changed the system because, having gone to watch Hungerford, I felt that it was the way to go. I had to pick the team I felt would win the game and it’s nice when it comes off.
“I felt that we handled their direct tactics very well and a few people stepped up to the plate again.”
One downside for Matthews was the loss of Ben Thomson, who was replaced by Sills due to a hamstring injury.
“He does have problems with his hamstrings and it is a bit of a blow,” Matthews said.
“We will give him some treatment and, hopefully, it’s not too bad and he won’t miss too many games.”
