STEVE Boore insists he has learnt a huge amount since he arrived at the Bob Lucas Stadium while working under boss Jason Matthews and the Terras’ coaching staff.

The former Yeovil Town and Chickerell United goalkeeper, who has set his sights on battling for a first-team spot at the end of the upcoming season, also feels that goalkeeping coach Paul Maitland “doesn’t get the respect he deserves” for the work he puts in at the club.

Asked what it was like to work with player-manager Matthews as a fellow goalkeeper, Boore told Echosport: “There is so much that I have learnt from him with techniques and stuff. The quality he brings to training is ridiculously good for a non-League keeper.

“He has an eye on the outfield players as well as his keeping, but he does such a good job in doing it.”

With the Terras set to start their pre-season training last night, Boore added: “Not many clubs get a goalkeeping coach and a top class keeper to work with.

“Paul (Maitland) puts so many hours into the club and doesn’t get the respect he deserves.

“Paul to organise a session is brilliant with (Micky) Greeno mixing in with some of the sessions as well.

“It is so good to work with them and they are top guys. Weymouth are lucky they have them.”
