Matthews is content with a point at Hitchin

TERRAS’ chief Jason Matthews was content with a point at Hitchin Town on Saturday and gave credit to the way his side responded to going a goal down.

Weymouth were forced to come from behind following Ben Walster’s 42nd minute strike at Top Field with Stewart Yetton once again getting his name on the score sheet for the visitors in the second half.

Giving his thoughts on the contest, Matthews said: “It was a little bit frustrating to concede a sloppy goal when we did but, on the whole, with a few injuries and people out, it’s an excellent point.

“Credit to the boys for digging in and coming back.”

He added: “I felt we had a lot of possession but we lacked a little bit of a cutting edge, we had very good spells in the game.

“A point was probably a fair reflection on the whole but I felt we probably just shaded it.

“It was a good all-round team performance.”

Matthews also gave an injury update on playmaker Chris Shephard, who had to sit out the game with a hamstring injury picked up against Brimscombe & Thrupp.

“Sheps is going for a scan on Thursday to determine the state of his hamstring,” he added.

Weymouth’s Dan Smith was also only fit enough for the bench on Saturday after taking a knock in training.
