WEYMOUTH’S talismanic frontman Stewart Yetton feels a win in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round against National League North side Kidderminster Harriers would be a dream come true.

The in-form striker netted on Tuesday night in the Terras’ 3-0 league win over Basingstoke Town as his side looked to hit their stride ahead of their massive tie this weekend.

The 31-year-old has scored in the FA Cup wins over Gosport Borough and Brimscombe & Thrupp and he puts his goalscoring feats down to tactics.

Talking to Echosport, he said: “For a long time, I’ve played out on the right and last season I was out of form.

“Playing up top in a 4-4-2 has benefitted me and Thomo (Ben Thomson) and I play well together.

“I’m not surprised we’re doing well together.”

Yetton reached the this stage of the competition with Weymouth two years ago but they were beaten by Braintree in a replay.

Now, the striker wants to play in the first round proper for the first time in his career.

He added: “I’ve never played in the first round and I’m not getting any younger.

“It’s huge. I want to win. When you are a non-League footballer to get into the first round is like reaching the final for the Premier League players.

“We all want to be in the hat and you could get put on TV and get a big crowd – there’s so much to look forward to.

“I’ve been lucky. When I was at Plymouth, I’ve played in the Championship so I’d like to play in the FA Cup proper.

“I want to do it for the club as well. They’ve had some tough years recently and I’d love to bring something back.

Speaking about his manager, Yetton remarked: “It would be nice for Jason (Matthews, Weymouth manager). I think he deserves it because he’s done some great things at the club.

“And it would be great for the fans and the players.”
