JASON Matthews admitted he was left “disappointed” after Weymouth’s clash with Hayes & Yeading United was abandoned after just 15 minutes tonight.

Referee Scott Jackson made the decision to abandon proceedings with the score at 0-0, after consulting with his fellow officials and both sides.

Reacting after the game, Matthews, who picked himself for his first league start since August, told Echosport: “It’s very disappointing because I felt we started superbly.

“I wanted a positive reaction after Saturday and I felt I got one at the start of the performance. I am disappointed that the weather came down and killed us.

“That’s just how it’s gone for us in the last couple of weeks but we just have to keep going.

“The boys had to do some running after and we have to gear ourselves up for Saturday now.”

Asked how much he could see from his own area, Matthews replied: “In fairness, at the time, not a lot.

“So no complaints when the ref did call it off, 10 minutes on it cleared slightly, which is even more disappointing.”

The Terras will be holding a fans’ forum following Saturday’s game against Wantage Town.

*Dorchester Town Reserves saw their clash against Bournemouth FC Reserves abandoned, also due to the weather, with the score at 1-1.
