Jason’s joy after Weymouth strike four at Dunstable

JASON Matthews expressed his delight to see his side’s “belief and desire” following their 4-1 victory at Dunstable Town.

The pressure was slightly eased on Matthews with a solid display from the visitors, who had both strikers in Stewart Yetton and Ben Thomson on the scoresheet twice.

And the Terras’ boss was delighted to see his team rally after one of his toughest weeks in the job.

He told Echosport: “For me, if you lose the dressing room and lose your players, there is not much point in staying on. On Saturday the lads showed me that they are all for me and that’s a massive thing for me personally.

“The biggest thing for me is belief and desire. We had both on Saturday and it showed again in the result.”

He added: “Overall, it was a fantastic performance. It’s something we need to build on now.

“We really took the game to Dunstable away from home and I am really pleased.

“It was very much a team performance. If you said that a lot of players had been six out of 10 this season, on Saturday seven or eight of them were eight out of 10.”

The Terras are in the hat for the third qualifying round of the competition, set to be drawn at lunchtime tomorrow.
