MANAGER Jason Matthews insists he will be going all out with his full first-team squad for the Terras’ League Challenge Cup second round clash at Paulton Rovers tonight (7.30pm).

The competition is normally used by the club to rotate their line-up and blood a handful of players from the reserve set-up.

But after Saturday’s 4-1 win in the FA Trophy at Dunstable, Matthews is keen to keep building momentum with his strongest squad.

He told Echosport: “Not that I didn’t before (in the competition) but we are playing to win.

“The full squad will go there and it gives us a good chance to pick up some more momentum after a really good win at Dunstable.

“I want to carry it on and I will be treating it as a first-team game.

“It also gives me a chance to give people some valuable minutes, like Aaron Rodriguez, who has just come back from a back injury.”

He continued: “Every game for me at the minute is a must-win game and, after one good performance, we need to build on that.

“It was a good win in the Trophy but the next couple of weeks are really important and we need to build some momentum going into the Christmas period and prove a few of the doubters wrong.”

Two players that are set to return to Matthews’ squad are loan pair Stuart Fleetwood and Bradley Tarbuck, whose short-term deals run out after Saturday’s game at Redditch.

The Terras’ chief added: “Fleets and Bradley will come in.

“It’s the last week of their loans and it’s probably not worked how we would like it because we have done well in the Trophy, so they obviously haven’t been able to play.

“They have both made a little impact and I would have liked them to have had a few more games for us but they have two games this week and they will both play a part.”

Matthews insisted he would monitor the situation this week as to whether he would look to extend either loan deal.
