WEYMOUTH boss Jason Matthews says his side need to “take the game to Basingstoke” to get back to winning ways tomorrow (3pm).

The Terras’ had been on a four-game unbeaten run before Monday’s defeat at Cambridge City, but manager Matthews was keen to keep the result in perspective.

He said: “It was a really long journey midweek so credit to the boys but we just couldn’t see the result out.

“Other than a five-minute spell I thought we did very well on a very tricky pitch so it was frustrating for us not to get the result, but going into Saturday we want to rectify that.”

Saturday’s opposition currently sit level on points with Weymouth and Matthews is expecting a good game.

He said: “Basingstoke are a team who like to play like us. It’s very much about what we do. We need to get back on the horse and if we do that we can get a positive result.

“It just goes to show that a lot of teams are beating each other in the league and for me it is incredibly frustrating that we’ve drawn so many games this season.

“We need to get over that 50-point target in the next couple of weeks and see where that takes us.”

Matthews confirmed that Aaron Rodriguez and Dean Evans are set to return, while the game comes too soon for Mark Cooper and Ben Thomson who remain sidelined.
