Weymouth boss Matthews eager for victory

WEYMOUTH boss Jason Matthews is looking to take the game to Cambridge City in this afternoon’s clash at the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm).

The Terras are looking to extend their unbeaten run against the relegation strugglers, and Matthews is keen to get a result.

He said: “The lads came through Tuesday unscathed, and we go into the game unbeaten in six and wanting to continue our run.

“We had a good home performance in the league last time out against Kettering so we’re looking to carry on that sort of form.

“Cambridge are fighting for their lives, so it certainly won’t be easy but it’d be nice to get one back at them after they beat us earlier in the season.”

Despite going six games unbeaten, five of those results have been draws, something which Matthews says it is typical of how the campaign has gone.

He said: “It’s been the story of our season.

“ We’ve drawn a lot of games but haven’t lost many.

“It’s incredibly frustrating because not many teams have beat us, or have come to the Bob Lucas Stadium and opened us up.

“We’re certainly aiming to take the game to Cambridge today.”

Matthews also confirmed that Tiago Sa has recovered from his back injury for today’s game, while Mark Molesley is unavailable.
