JASON Matthews labelled Weymouth’s second-half showing against Kings Langley on Saturday as “unacceptable”.

The Terras’ boss did not hold back in his post-match assessment of the 1-1 draw, after his side could only muster a point against the Evo-Stik Southern Premier League strugglers for the second time this season.

A goal from Mark Cooper put the hosts in the box seat before a wonder-strike from Langley’s Ollie Clark beat Matthews, who returned in goal for the first time since turning 42.

The Terras’ boss told Echosport: “I was fuming with the second-half performance. We took our foot off the gas, gave them a leg up and, credit to them, they scored a good goal.

“But some of our play in the second half was unacceptable – that’s why we are where we are this season.

“We went back to our old ways, which we had got out of over the last three or four games.”

He added: “I tore into the boys afterwards.

“It’s no good being silent and having your head between your legs at the end of the game.

“We need to go out and take the game by the scruff of the neck. You work all week to put a Weymouth shirt on on a Saturday and that, for me, wasn’t good enough.”
