Midweek Matters with Aaron Rodriguez

Another Midweek Matters and this time Aaron Rodriguez speaks to Ben Carter from theterras.com.

Ben Carter: Hi Aaron, thanks for joining me!  Many Terras fans were delighted to see that you’ve signed for another season was this an easy decision for you to make? What made you want to put pen to paper and stay at Weymouth FC?

Aaron Rodriguez: Hello to everyone reading! Yes, without a doubt an easy decision to make. As soon as I realised I was part of Moles’ (Mark Molesley) plans for next season, I wanted to sign. I definitely think in time this club will be back up to where it belongs and it would be great to be part of that.

BC: After completing your first season at the club, what would you say has been your favourite moment so far?

AR: My favourite moment is a tough  one between my first goal for the club against Paulton in the F.A. Cup, or my goal against Cambridge City at home. Think the goal against Cambridge just edges it.

BC: On a personal note, how do you feel the 2016/17 campaign went for you?

AR: I don’t think I had the best of seasons to be honest, I think my injury before Christmas (which kept me out for a couple months) definitely affected my form and run in the side after that. And the position I play you get judged on stats, which haven’t been good enough this season. But it’s been a good learning curve and I believe next season will be a lot better.

BC: With the the last question in mind, are there any targets you’d like to set yourself for next season?

AR: I think my biggest target next year is to cement my place in the starting 11. That’s the main thing. Then I think double figures on goals and assists next year should be minimum expectations.

BC: Here at WFC’s social media team, we love a take away. What is your favourite takeaway?

AR: KFC all day everyday of the week.

BC: If you had to sum up your footballing career in a movie, what movie would you pick?

AR: Finding Nemo because I usually go missing after about 20 minutes. ??

BC: Which part of next season are you looking forward to most? What player are you most excited about playing alongside?

AR: I usually look forward to the away days, especially when I’m on the coach with the other lads. I think Hereford away will be good. I’m pleased about the lads who have re-signed because we all got on well last year. However, it would be nice to see Charlie Davis turn up this year.?

BC: In the close season, are there any sports you enjoy to play? How would you rate your skills?

AR: I’m a huge Tennis fan! I follow it a lot, and I’d like to think I can play to a reasonable standard as well. Me and Kev Brooks (Calvin Brooks) fancy ourselves as a deadly doubles pair as well.
