Weymouth hit four at sorry Frome
FROME TOWN 1
WEYMOUTH 4
WEYMOUTH delivered a superb performance in beating Frome Town 4-1 away to earn their first Evo-Stik Southern League Premier win of the season.
Josh Wakefield, Brandon Goodship, new loan signing Jordan Rose and Ben Thomson all scored for Mark Molesley’s side, who yesterday announced three new signings.
The trio were all involved in the matchday squad, as goalkeeper Gareth Stewart joined on a non-contract deal, defender Rose penned a month’s loan from Havant & Waterlooville and Dorchester-born Antonio Diaz linked up from Bournemouth on a work experience loan.
Wakefield got the visitors off to a dream start after just 28 seconds, when he pounced on a Sam Teale mistake to score.
Frome, who had given the ball away on several occasions, equalised on 36 minutes when Marcus Mapstone turned in a Jon Davies free-kick past Stewart.
Five minutes later, Goodship made it 2-1 from the spot after Thomson was felled in the box.
And Rose got a debut goal five minutes after the restart when Kyle Phillips dropped a corner into his path for a tap in.
Thomson completed the win when he grabbed an excellent fourth, cutting inside and driving a powerful shot home on 70 minutes.
