WEYMOUTH RESERVES 1

RINGWOOD TOWN 3

WEYMOUTH Reserves suffered a 3-1 loss at home to Ringwood Town in Wessex League Division One.

Ringwood grabbed a goal on nine minutes through captain Charlie Heggan after the slight midfielder drove a powerful shot in off the crossbar.

Weymouth replied moments later when Morgan Turner hit a curler inches wide of the far post with the outside of his foot.

But Heggan doubled his side’s advantage on 38 minutes when he was put through on the right, his low shot squirming underneath Isaac Haigh.

After the break Weymouth’s Harry Baker pulled a goal back after Mikel Carrington retrieved a seemingly lost cause and crossed low for Baker to stoop and bury a header past Tom Edmonds.

However, River Smith sealed the win with a crisp shot having beaten the offside trap.

Speaking to Echosport after the game, boss Bradley Asagba was “disappointed” to lose.

He said: “All three goals were avoidable, we could have dealt with them. We’ve dominated possession and territorially and not created many clear cut chances.”

Weymouth face unbeaten leaders Tadley Calleva away tomorrow (3pm).
