WEYMOUTH forward Brandon Goodship insists there is “a lot more to come” from him after a stand-out display in the Terras’ 2-0 FA Cup second qualifying round win over Chippenham Town.

Goodship played a key part in both Weymouth’s goals, providing an assist for Mark Cooper, and the striker is keen to add more goals to his personal tally this season.

Running through his assist, he told Echosport: “I just drifted into the pocket. Toby (Down) played a great ball into my feet which allowed me to turn and I put Coops in. It was good to see his performance rewarded with a goal.

“I thought I played well and I got on the ball a lot more than I have done in a couple of games this season.

“There’s a lot more to come from me, I just need to keep going and hopefully a few shots that the keepers have been pulling off great saves for will go in soon.”

Goodship was also pleased by the quality of the Terras’ move for their opener, adding it was the type of move the players work on in training with manager Mark Molesley.

He said: “We work on it all the time in training. Luckily it paid off. We have practised that before and it was good to see it come off on Saturday.

“Moles wants us to play the game the right way. But at times there needs to be recognition when the ball needs to be played over the top.”

Weymouth will face National League South side Chelmsford City away in the third round of qualifying, and Goodship feels the Terras will go to the Melbourne Stadium “full of confidence”.

He said: “We’ll go there full of confidence. We think we can beat any team on our day. There’s the old cliché of the magic of the FA Cup.

“We want to go there and win and we’ll go there believing that we can win. We’ve got Hereford on Saturday, that’s the main focus. We’re not looking too far ahead.

“It’s nice to have those big home games, but we want to win every game we can and Saturday will be no different.”
