BEN Thomson is looking forward to a run of home games after the Terras’ away trip to Merthyr Town today (3pm).

Weymouth face a run of three home games in four matches after a run where the Terras have played six league games with only two coming at home since the start of the year.

Thomson said: “I do not know how many away games we have had, but we have had a lot recently. It is a big difference playing at home in front of our home fans.

“We get good travelling fans as well but it is a bit different when you are playing at home so I am looking forward to that, three points in all of them hopefully.”

Speaking about their recent away matches, Thomson said: “It is hard work with the long journeys but we have been coming in on Thursday training just to get it all out of your legs and system but you want to keep on top of it.

“You do not want to not come in and expect to do a little bit and then go again, so it has not been too bad but a few home games now so we are alright.”

January has been a mixed month for the Terras with three wins and three draws but saw their unbeaten run come to an end in the 11th match away against Dunstable.

In the match after Dunstable the Terras beat Farnborough 6-0 as Thomson put in a superb performance, scoring once to make it 4-0 and set up Brandon Goodship two minutes later as Weymouth made it 5-0.

When asked if it was a satisfying end to the month, Thomson said: “It is really we have been doing well lately, it was disappointing (against Dunstable) but it was a good way to react.”

Thomson then travelled to Royston Town and suffered a minor groin strain, forcing his substitution in the final 15 minutes.

Manager Mark Molesley is hopeful over his fitness for the trip to Merthyr.

The club’s physios have been assessing the striker since Tuesday night ahead of the journey to Wales, while fellow striker Harry Baker is also in contention after a recent illness.
