ABDULAI Baggie admitted that the atmosphere from the 822 crowd helped the Terras to victory over Slough Town on Tuesday night.

Weymouth earned the vital three points to keep their quest for the highest possible play-off spot on track thanks to a Calvin Brooks goal in the 46th minute in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Baggie fired in the cross after working well with Ben Thomson to weave through the Rebels’ defence for Brooks to hammer home for his fourth goal in three games.

Baggie, when asked if the players fed off the atmosphere, said: “Of course, it all helps having good fans and having good turnout as well but the aim was to win, that was all as a group collectively, individually, myself as well and we did that in good fashion.

“I thought we deserved the win, in the first half, I thought we had the best chances of the game and we should have put them away.

“We obviously kept plugging away and went into the second half still in the positive vibe and we knew the goal was going to come and it did. It was a good goal from Calvin.

“It is always good to beat your play-off rivals but, as I said, we look to go to every game to try and win whether it is teams in the top five, top 10 or in the lower half of the table.”

Explaining his role in the goal, Baggie praised Thomson, who provided him with the ball in the build-up to the goal: “I was just trying to put the ball in the right area and as you know Tommo always works hard for the team and he will always put his body on the line and he always gambles and that paid off in the end.

Baggie and Thomson consistently link up well during Weymouth matches and when asked about the link-up play, Baggie said: “I am enjoying it, obviously it helps when the team is winning but there is still a long way to goin terms of now until the end of the season. There are still points to be won and dropped but we are still winning and keeping the momentum going and may it continue.”

Weymouth travel to face fellow play-off contenders Kettering Town, who sit two points and one place behind the Terras in the table, on Saturday (3pm).
