WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley has full respect for King’s Lynn Town as he prepares his side to travel to them today for their play-off semi-final (7.45pm).

King’s Lynn finished second in the table with 100 points, three ahead of Weymouth and 13 behind league champions Hereford.

Molesley said: “We have been handed King’s Lynn, who are a great side. I have got full respect for them, they will probably feel unlucky that they have not won the league as well.”

The Terras will face quite a journey to the Linnets, who are 40 miles west of Norwich.

In their two encounters so far this season the Terras beat the Linnets 3-1 thanks to two goals from Brandon Goodship and one from Charlie Davis while in January Goodship grabbed a point with a late goal in a 1-1 draw.

Molesley said: “It is another long trip in the coach but it is what it is, we ended up finishing fifth so that is our assignment.

“I think all of the teams are quite well placed and evenly matched so everyone’s guess is as good as anyone’s but we believe in ourselves in that changing room and we will be doing everything we can to win.”

Weymouth warmed up for the match with a 3-0 win at home against Hitchin Town in the last day of the season on Saturday, with goals from Calvin Brooks, Abdulai Baggie and Goodship sealing the win.

When asked what the atmosphere was like in the dressing room after the victory Ben Thomson said: “It was nice to go out on a win in front of a good crowd and it is obviously nice to go into Wednesday with a few goals behind us as well.

When asked if Wednesday was on the minds of the players during that win Thomson said: “Not at all to be honest, I personally and I do not think most of the lads really care about who we have in the play-offs because we have beaten them all.

“I am quite happy with King’s Lynn away, obviously it is a bit far.”

“It is job done, we will hopefully take that momentum into Wednesday. It is going to be a hard one because it is far away but hopefully take that momentum and get into the finals.”
