WEYMOUTH director of football Paul Maitland feels the Terras must deliver a “professional performance” at Chesham United in their Evo-Stik Southern Premier South contest tomorrow (3pm).

The Bob Lucas Stadium outfit has taken seven points from a possible nine to occupy fifth place, while Chesham have lost every game and sit bottom of the pile.

Weymouth go into the game knowing a Ridgeway derby with Dorchester awaits them on Monday, but Maitland insists the Terras are not looking that far ahead.

He told Echosport: “We’ll have to make sure that we’re really on top of our game, we do things in the right manner and not look ahead to the derby.

“It’s really important that we focus on one game at a time, put in a professional performance and come away with a result.

“There’s no easy game. Chesham are a well-established Southern League side. We’ll go there with a positive attitude and gameplan.”

Maitland admitted his surprise at Chesham’s poor start to the campaign, which has seen them net just once in 270 minutes.

He said: “I’m a little bit surprised by their start, I must admit. I know we beat them comfortably last season. I thought last summer they would probably look to strengthen and be a contender.

“It’s still very early in the season. I don’t know how much notice we can take but I’m a little bit surprised to see they’ve lost their first three. They will be desperate to get their first points of the season.”

Weymouth have a fully-fit squad to choose from, with Warren Bentley and Jordan Ngalo (hamstring) both in contention.

Maitland said: “With two games in three days invariably you have to make changes. Jordan is picking up his recovery from his hamstring.

“We’ll go into the weekend with a fully-fit squad. We’ve got one or two niggles but nothing that’s going to hold anyone back.”
