Prodomo: Terras make sure every minute counts

Assistant Manager, Tom Prodomo believes that making sure every minute counts is becoming an important trait within the current group of players.

Warren Bentley’s strike in the 90th minute rescued a point for Weymouth against Hartley Wintney at the Bob Lucas Stadium; although the Terras had a chance to steal three in injury time when Brandon Goodship’s late effort was blocked.

Speaking after Weymouth’s 2-2 draw to the Row, Prodomo felt that the Terras should have capitalised earlier in the game.

“I felt like we started the game well, but against sides that want to come to us and slow things down and get behind the ball, which is their right to do, I think it was important that in the first 20 minutes where we were on top that we capitalised on it,” Prodomo told theterras.com.

“Once we hadn’t done that and they started to get a few counter attacks together, it gave them more belief. And once they got the goal they really had something to hang on to. They ran back into shape with a lot of energy so they really deserve credit for that. It was frustrating at times, but even more credit to the boys for the way they came back late on.”

Prodomo paid credit to the Weymouth squad for their perseverance saying, “We’ve shown for a long time with this group of players that the game is 90 minutes long and that we make sure every minute counts; they’ve done that again against Hartley Wintney.

“Credit to them for trusting themselves, the goals come late but they are also good quality goals. We’ve got that ability in the group, so they deserve a lot of credit for that.”

The Terras are coming towards the end of a two week break, the next fixture coming this Saturday when Weymouth travel to Staines Town. Despite a rare weekend without a match, Prodomo says that their hasn’t been much change the squad’s schedule.

“The work stays the same whether we’ve won, drawn or lost. The boys work incredibly hard, but it’s nice to have that extra time to prep them. Having had the replay with Banbury put into our schedule it took away a training session; so it is nice to be able to train 5 times before we play again.”
