Rose sent off early as Kings topple Weymouth

KINGS LANGLEY    2

Ward 5, Wade-Slater 59

WEYMOUTH   1

Brooks 47

JORDAN Rose saw red as he lasted only 18 minutes on his third Weymouth debut as the Terras fell to a 2-1 defeat in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Goals from Steve Ward and Luke Wade-Slater either side of a Calvin Brooks equaliser condemned the Terras to defeat.

Weymouth were able to boast the signing of Rose prior to the match as he started for the Terras, but his performance did not last long.

Firstly he was given a yellow card for a foul inside five minutes, and from the free-kick Kings Langley took the lead.

After 18 minutes, Rose was gone with a foul shortly after a Weymouth penalty appeal earned him a second yellow card.

It was a much-changed Terras side, who made five changes for Weymouth, as Rose joined Callum Buckley, Jordan Ngalo, Ben Thomson and Wakefield in coming in for Sa, Jake McCarthy, Ryan Glover, Harry Baker and Abdulai Baggie.

The Terras had a woeful start though, as Rose gave away a free-kick 35-yards out and earned a yellow card for his foul.

From the free-kick the second ball made its way to Ward who slammed in at the far-post to hand the home side the lead.

Weymouth responded well to the initial set back, as chances came from a Wakefield corner, which saw Carmichael head just over the bar.

Then Rose almost created a goal, when he headed a ball back across goal but could not find a fellow Terra after 13 minutes.

Brooks was brought down in the box and the referee did not award a penalty, to the frustration of the visitors, but straight after that Rose made a mistimed tackle that saw him sent off.

Wakefield was the bright spark for the Terras in the first half, thoroughly justifying his role as captain.

A corner from the Weymouth midfielder found Stephane Zubar who tried to bundle the ball over the line.

A cross from Sam Sherring then found Thomson who headed straight at Tokarczyk.

Sherring then fired wastefully over the bar from 35-yards out.

The Lango had a good chance when they went through one-on-one but Weymouth goalkeeper Jordan Seabright made the save.

The two teams went in with the home side in front at half-time, yet Weymouth did not need long in the second half to change that.

After two minutes, Wakefield played a superb ball for Brooks to run on to and fire in past Tokarczyk to equalise.

The Terras were starting to really take charge of the match, as Brandon Goodship created space inside the box, but fired at Tokarczyk.

At this point it looked like Weymouth would hold onto a hard-earned point, as they looked very much equal to the Lango.

However, Wade-Slater slammed in a shot from 25-yards out to hand the home side the lead once more.

The goal seemed to wind the Terras, who struggled to create a chance for a time after, as they once again found themselves hunting a goal to draw them level.

The Terras were doing their best to get back into it but found clear-cut chances hard to come across as the game got very bogged down.

Attacking substitutions were made in an effort to get back into it, as Weymouth manager Mark Molesley brought on Baggie, McCarthy and Baker on to try and rescue a positive result for the Terras.

At this point in the match it was apparent that Weymouth would lose their hold on the summit of the table, with two goals required to hold onto the top spot, with results elsewhere sending Taunton Town and Salisbury above them.

Langley were content to run down the clock, and saw a player booked for time wasting.

However, the hosts were hunting a third as well, and Seabright had to be alert from a Lango corner to stop a headed effort.

Baggie went close with a late effort but saw it go wide as Weymouth kept hunting a goal to grab a late point.

However, the goal would not come and Weymouth slipped to defeat against the Lango and are now third in the table.

However, they have a game in hand on new leaders Taunton Town and meet Salisbury, the other team above them, on Tuesday night at the Bob Lucas Stadium (7.45pm).
