MARK Molesley praised the “vintage Weymouth fashion” as Ben Thomson struck an 87th minute winner to complete a turnaround from 1-0 down as the Terras beat Salisbury 2-1 in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.

Aaron Dawson had struck the Whites in front in the 22nd minute, after Weymouth goalkeeper Jordan Seabright was replaced by Lloyd Thomas after suffering suspected concussion, before Brandon Goodship equalised via the spot and Thomson’s late winner.

Molesley said: “I think it was in vintage Weymouth fashion, (leaving) it fairly late but it is a massive three points for us, I thought it was a fantastic performance from the lads.

“The carrot was there to go back to the top of the table so early in the season, it got billed as quite a big game but we take each game as it comes.”

Molesley credited the Terras’ opponents, who had been ahead of Weymouth on goal difference prior to the start of the match but the Terras now return to the summit of the table.

Molesley said: “It was a real good shift because Salisbury pushed us really hard, you can see why they are up there with us. They are a good side.

“I think we edged it in the end, I think their keeper (Jake Hallett) made two fantastic saves in the first half and we had quite a few chances in the second half, Thommo really got into his stride and we got a little bit more fruit for our hard work in the second half. I was delighted to hear that final whistle.”

Referring to Seabright’s injury, Molesley said it seems to be concussion and bemoaned conceding straight from the restart following the pause in play.

He said: “Unfortunately it looks like concussion, it obviously unsettled us a little bit because we conceded right from the resulting throw-in, he (Seabright) unfortunately came out, got the ball but took a kick in the head and we unfortunately conceded right away.

“There was quite a pause in play. We need to make sure we are ready when it starts again and unfortunately we found ourselves a little bit on our heels.”
