MARK Molesley thanked the crowd after their raucous support in the penalty shoot-out that finally saw them to victory over Dorchester after a memorable Dorset Senior Cup quarter-final finished 2-2 after extra-time.

Weymouth goalkeeper Lloyd Thomas made two saves from Neil Martin and Josh Bailey as the Terras won the shoot-out 3-1, with Brandon Goodship finishing the scoring.

Molesley said: “As soon as we got the penalties it was important that we got it at that end.

“You could see that the crowd straight away got behind him (Thomas).

“I thank the crowd for getting in and everyone up for that penalty shoot-out.

“I think the boys showed a cool head in the penalties, you always take your hat off to the boys that are brave enough to take one and then hopefully your goalkeeper might pull out a save but Lloyd made two saves, it was fantastic from him.”

Weymouth had to win the hard way, as for the majority of normal time it seemed Molesley would suffer his first Ridgeway derby defeat as manager.

Goals from former-Terra Antonio Diaz and Ben Seymour saw the Magpies 2-0 up inside 30 minutes, before Goodship narrowed the scores a minute later. Seymour was sent off after 35 minutes, before Ngalo brilliantly equalised in the 90th minute for the Terras.

Molesley said: “We made very hard work of it, we didn’t quite reach the heights that we should have done.

“It was good that we got a lot of minutes into people that needed it but ultimately I did not want that many minutes.

“I did not want it to go to extra-time, it wasn’t our ideal scenario but when we have gone to extra-time we want to make sure we go on and win the game.”
