YEMI Odubade says he ‘just wants to be a part’ of a club going in the right places, after he enjoyed a great start to his Weymouth career in the 4-0 win over Frome Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South on Saturday.

Odubade, on loan from National League South side Eastbourne Borough for one month, ran the Frome defence ragged, at one point outpacing a defender to a ball, despite the defender having a 15-yard head start.

Odubade said: “I’m here for a month, I spoke to the gaffer Mark and he told me everything about the club and it was everything I wanted to hear really, about a club going forward and going in the right places and I just want to be a part of it.

“I know the gaffer from back in the day when he played for Aldershot and I had my first training session with the boys on Thursday and he was telling me what he wanted from me.

“I had a good game and long may it continue.”

Odubade had not started a league match since Eastbourne’s 3-1 win over Hungerford Town.

Odubade passed up a great chance to score in favour of handing Brandon Goodship a near-empty net to easily slot in en-route to a hat-trick.

“It was good, obviously it was my first 78 minutes, first start for about three weeks so obviously I started feeling it towards the end but it was a good start and most importantly we got the three points.”

Referring to the assist, Odubade said: “He played me in and I was baring down on goal and the goalkeeper has come towards me but Brandon was in a better position than I was and I knew he was going to put it away so and obviously made it 2-0 it was good.”

Odubade also scored the equaliser during the Terras’ 3-1 defeat to Gosport Borough on Tuesday, from a Calvin Brooks cross after 43 minutes.

However, Boro hit back and ended up winning 3-1 as Weymouth fell to their first league defeat at home since October 24, 2017.

Odubade, asides from having already met Molesley earlier in his career, also knew Jake McCarthy, from their time at Maidstone United, and Goodship, from Broadstone Golf Club, prior to joining.
