WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley bemoaned “a bad night” as he saw his side crash out of the FA Trophy in a 3-1 loss to eighth-tier Ramsbottom United.

Two second-half strikes from Eddie Moran and Nic Evangelinos condemned the Terras to defeat, after a late goal on Saturday had earned the Rams a replay at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Molesley said: “It was a bad night for us.

“We haven’t played well at all. It was a bit of a hangover from probably the disappointment on Saturday and we never quite got a foothold in the game or grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck, which is really disappointing.”

The first goal of the match was an own goal from Weymouth’s Sam Sherring, who took a knock during the match, while the Rams’ second came about through confusion between Lloyd Thomas and Ashley Wells.

Molesley admitted the goals were poor, but looked on the bright side of the fact they were errors.

Molesley said: “The manner of the goals obviously were really poor. Again they are errors, they are avoidable.

“That is the good thing, we are not getting opened up too many times but (against Ramsbottom) we probably were, more than we usually are and we gave up a lot more possession and a lot more chances on our goal than we usually do.”

Molesley then called for his side to refresh and get their confidence going again and try and get back to winning ways.

Molesley said: “We need to refocus, get our concentration back, get our belief back, get our confidence going and only we can do that by reacting in the right way.

“We just need to freshen ourselves, freshen our minds, freshen our approach and get back to winning ways as quickly as we can.”
