CAMERON Murray praised the Terras for their current league position after he completed his move to Weymouth from Dorchester earlier in the week.

Murray was announced on Monday evening that he was set to sign for the Terras from the Magpies, as Weymouth lie third in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South, but can go top if they win their games in hand over Taunton Town.

When asked about the main draw for joining the Terras, Murray said: “Obviously where they are in the table, that is important.

“I know that they are a big club, I have obviously played in the derby for Dorchester.

“I actually know a few of the boys, I played with (Stephane) Zubar at York – they are good lads so quite a few things. I’m happy to be here, I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Murray met his new team-mates for the first time on Tuesday evening when the Terras suffered a shock 3-1 loss to Ramsbottom United in their FA Trophy second round replay.

Murray said: “It is the first time I have met the lads, so it is good to get in. It did actually come about quite quickly, so I’ll go to training (today) and go from there.”

Murray also took time to thank the Magpies, praising their fans and the club for giving him the opportunity to enjoy his football again.

Murray said: “It has been great at Dorch, I came down because I am from up north, I went to Dorch initially and they gave me that opportunity to play and enjoy my football again, the fans have been great as well.”

Murray received effusive praise from his new manager Mark Molesley, after he was introduced to the squad.

Molesley said: “Cameron is a player we have courted and looked at for quite some time now and all of the reports we have had, when we have sent scouts and different bits, I have watched him personally a few times and other staff and he has always come back with a big tick against his name.

“We have moved quickly to try and secure him at a time where we have had a lot of games and he his going to be a breath of fresh air.”

Molesley added: “I am really looking forward to seeing him in a Weymouth shirt, and at the moment he might be that bright spark that picks us back up again and gets us going.

“But look, he is a great player, his attributes, his character and his attitude and his quality on the ball, he ticks all of our boxes. I am really looking forward to working with him.”
