JOSH Carmichael admits this season has not been his best by a “long shot”, as Weymouth gear up to host Merthyr Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South on Saturday (3pm).

Carmichael also admitted that the Terras’ recent 2-1 loss at the Martyrs will give Weymouth an added edge ahead of Saturday’s clash.

Carmichael said: “(It’s) not my best by a long shot, I know that. In and out of the team at times, it has been tough to take but I don’t think I have probably deserved to play every game this year.

“All I can focus on now is the last 13 games of the season and be a good teammate and make sure I am there for everyone, whether I am in the team or not in the team.

“I think we have all got the same goal at the end of the day, we want to win this league. We have all got to come together now so that is how I am looking at it.”

Carmichael dismissed the idea that playing Merthyr twice in quick succession could have any major beneficial impact.

Carmichael, when asked if the short gap between the two games could be beneficial, said: “Yes and no, we always do our homework on any team we are playing so it doesn’t matter if we play them at the beginning of the season or two weeks ago.

“So not too much but I think knowing the result that we ended up with at their place it will give us an added edge at the weekend to go out there and put it right. It will be interesting.”

It is a more positive atmosphere in the Terras’ camp currently, following the 2-1 victory over Walton Casuals at the weekend, but Carmichael felt that any win would have done.

Carmichael said: “It was a big win actually I think, obviously after a little bit of a bad spell for us.

“So obviously the mood in the camp is more positive, I think just any win would have done at the weekend, and I think it was a good performance so it was good to get the three points and get back on track.”
