Mark Molesley has said that he can have no complaints about Brandon Goodship’s performance after his four goals helped Weymouth to a 4-0 victory against Staines Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium, writes Ryan Asman.

Goodship scored two in each half to take his tally to the season for 38 goals, 36 of which have come in league competition.

With Met Police winning at Taunton and Salisbury losing at home to Gosport Borough, Weymouth now sit seven points clear at the top with four games left to play.

“Brandon does what Brandon does, four goals for him today! I said to him that he’d probably be disappointed that he hasn’t go more,” Molesley told theterras.com.

“He had a couple of other chances that from his standard he’d normally tuck away too. But he’s not going to get any complaints from his manager after scoring four goals.

The 4-0 win comes off the back of a good week for the Terras, which saw them convincingly see off Hartley Wintney and fellow title-chasers Metropolitan Police.

“It’s been a good week, we’ve put ourselves in a good position and as I always say in these interviews, and I know it sounds boring, but we haven’t done anything yet.

“We’ve got to keep level headed, keep working hard and now prepare for the next game, which is now the biggest game.”

The Terras boss continued to say that he felt his side could’ve had even more goals, but still praised them for getting the job done.

“It’s been a great week. We should have been a little more ruthless today, but I think the boys can be forgiven for that, because the last couple of games we really have been ruthless against Hartley Wintney and Met Police.

“We could have scored more goals today, but it’s a clean sheet and another win. We’ve done what we needed to do and it has been a good week.”

Staines Town came into the fixture having already been relegated and in a wretched run of form, but Molesley said Weymouth still had to respect the Swans and not take the game lightly.

“We had a lot of reports on Staines, we look into them. You can’t take your foot off the pedal in this league, we’re in good momentum at the moment and we have to keep that going.

“There was never going to be any changes, Zubar came off due to a slight injury which he came off for the other day. He was the only one who came out the team.

“We’re in a good place at the moment, with our momentum continuity is key and you can’t take any game in this league lightly, this league has taught us that many a time.

“Staines put up a good fight, they’ve got some good young players in there and we had to show them the respect they deserve. We needed to make sure we won the game; we can’t take our foot off the gas.”

Weymouth are next in league action when they travel to Beaconsfield Town on Saturday (3pm kick-off). A win for Weymouth at Beaconsfield, coupled with Met Police losing at Swindon Supermarine and Taunton failing to win against Kings Langley would see Weymouth crowned as champions.
