Weymouth not looking too far ahead says Molesley

MARK Molesley says that his Weymouth side will not look too far ahead, despite the lure of potentially winning the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South title this weekend.

If Weymouth beat Beaconsfield Town, Taunton fail to win against Kings Langley and the Met Police lose at Swindon Supermarine then the Terras will take an unassailable lead at the top of the table.

Weymouth are currently on 81 points with Met Police second on 74 and Taunton Town a point behind on 73, meaning the Terras could go 10 points clear with only nine potential points remaining after Saturday.

When asked if he was aware of the potential scenario during the post-match interview after Weymouth had beaten Staines 4-0, Molesley replied: “Wow, I do now.

“We cannot look too far ahead.

“All we can control is to do our best to prepare to win the game. If we win the game then (we will) see where it takes us.

“If not, then same again for the next game. We are not looking too far ahead. All we can concentrate on is trying to prepare and win this game.”

Should Met Police draw on Saturday and Weymouth win, then the Blues would have to overhaul a goal difference of at least 16 and hope Weymouth do not earn another point for the title not to head to Dorset.

The win also marked the first time Brennan Camp was in a Weymouth squad after signing on loan from AFC Bournemouth.

Molesley was glad to have him involved, and praised the atmosphere at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Molesley said: “It is nice to have him involved for him to come and see what it is about in the changing room and meet the boys and get around it because he is a great signing for us, gives us a great bit of reinforcement for us and it is nice to have him in and around to experience this atmosphere.

“It is a great atmosphere out there.”

Goalkeeper Mark Childs missed out on the match due to a knock and Molesley says the club are having it assessed further.
