After 41 games and 93 league goals scored that all started on August 4th away at Harrow, it all comes down to 90 minutes of football to determine who wins the Southern league Premier South. Weymouth host Farnborough knowing if they match or better Taunton Town’s result, who play away to Basingstoke Town they will be champions. Meanwhile for Taunton they have to win, or draw and hope Weymouth lose with a 12 goal swing.

With what is expected to be a huge crowd packed at The Bob Lucas Stadium for the final game of the season, a crowd which has seen a thrilling season unfold before their eyes, there is sure to be an electric atmosphere.

The previous fixture between the Terras and Farnborough was the old cliche, “a game of two halves.” It was arguably one of the best first halves of the season for the Terras and one of the best in recent years as Weymouth went into the break 1-3 up, with free-flowing attacking football and goals from Ben Thomson, Abdulai Baggie and Stephane Zubar. However in the second half Farnborough turned it around with 3 goals to win the game 4-3. It was also Weymouth’s first defeat of the season on September 1st.

Last season, the two fixtures saw 14 goals scored with 12 coming from the Terras in a 2-6 away win and then a 6-0 win in the reverse fixture. A good omen for the Terras faithful is that the last two games of the two previous seasons have seen Weymouth score 7 and conceded 0. A 4-0 win against Leamington and a 3-0 win against Hitchin.

Farnborough come into this game with good form. They currently sit 7th in the table with 69 points from 41 games played. Their overall record stands at; Won 18, Drawn 8 and Lost 15. They have scored 72 and conceded 69. Farnborough’s away record stands at; Played 20, Won 6, Drawn 5 and Lost 9. They have scored 37 and conceded 42 on their travels. In the last 5 away games for The Boro, they have lost 2 which were against Salisbury in a 3-2 defeat and a 2-1 loss to Walton Casuals.

Finally, against Poole, Calvin Brooks’ goal was clocked at 13 seconds. That is the quickest goal by any Weymouth player since Ben Smith scored after just 8 seconds against Tamworth on the opening day of the 2006/07 season in a 1-3 win in Weymouth’s first game back in the Conference National.
