OLLIE Harfield says that feeling like you are wanted at a club is a huge thing for him, after he sealed his move to Weymouth.

Harfield, who can play at left-back or in the left of midfield, is the first new signing for the Terras.

Harfield told Echosport: “It is a big thing for me, feeling like you are wanted at a football club, instead of just being a squad player and sort of being there.

“Him showing an interest in me throughout the year was another big factor.”

It comes when Harfield was discussing Terras’ boss Mark Molesley, who he knows through his time as a youngster at AFC Bournemouth.

Harfield, discussing Molesley, said: “We have always sort of stayed in contact to be fair, seeing how I have been getting on at Dagenham and before when I was at Boreham Wood so we have always stayed in contact.

“So the link was always there and obviously when he was aware of my situation at Dagenham he gave me a call and it sort of went from there to be honest.”

Harfield’s move comes as the Southampton-based player looks to be closer to home, having left Dagenham and Redbridge during the close season.

Harfield said: “I am really excited, I am really looking forward to getting going now.

“I am looking forward to kicking the ball about again really.”

“The off season is a bit of a stress when you are out of contract really, obviously I was offered a deal at Dagenham but I thought it was in my interests to come closer to home and hopefully be in more of a position to get into the starting 11 every week.

“I was at Bournemouth for seven years, so I have always been around Bournemouth, so it is close to home and close to my family which is important for me.”

Harfield knows the size of the club and is already familiar with a few of the Weymouth squad.

Harfield added: “I know a few of the boys down there anyway, like Jake McCarthy, Callum Buckley and Josh McQuoid so obviously I spoke to them. I knew how much of a big club anyway.

“It all looks really good from afar so far.”
