Biography: McCarthy is equally at home playing as a centre-back or a holding midfielder. Jake joined Weymouth in June 2017 after leaving AFC Bournemouth.
McCarthy captained Weymouth to the 2018/19 Southern League title.
McCarthy was named in the Vanarama team of the week twice in September 2019 for his performances against Welling United and Concord Rangers. He was named in the team of the week for the third time after his brace against Braintree Town in October 2019.
In January 2020, McCarthy was voted as Weymouth’s player of the month.
