Harry Baker hits brace as Weymouth thrash Farnborough
FARNBOROUGH 2
Huggins 10, Travers og 32
WEYMOUTH 6
Baker 4, 26, Tubbs 8, Carmichael 58, Goodship 83, Thomson 90+3
WEYMOUTH netted six times at Farnborough to move into fifth place in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier.
Harry Baker grabbed a double alongside Matt Tubbs, Josh Carmichael, Brandon Goodship and Ben Thomson strikes.
Boro captain Josh Huggins’ effort and a Mark Travers own goal were the only high points on a harrowing night for the hosts.
Weymouth manager Mark Molesley made three changes to the side that started the 3-1 win over King’s Lynn on Saturday.
Gareth Stewart, Thomson and Josh Wakefield all made way for Travers, Baker and Tubbs.
Stewart was omitted from the squad completely, while Thomson and Wakefield were dropped to the bench alongside the returning Toby Down.
In a frantic opening, Boro’s Keith Emmerson forced a fine stop from Travers inside the first minute, before a quickfire Terras double.
Goodship played in Baker with an incisive through ball, and the striker beat the offside trap before rounding home keeper Aiden Upward to score.
On eight minutes, Tubbs was on hand to score his third Terras goal after Calvin Brooks’ superb low cross from the right.
But Weymouth’s dream start was dented slightly when Huggins swept home a half-volley two minutes later, after the away side failed to sufficiently clear a corner.
Baker had other ideas though, and he made it 3-1 by finishing off a superb passing move, firing home from Brooks’ pass.
The two sides went in 3-2 at half-time when Terras’ goalkeeper Travers spilled a corner-kick in a crowded goalmouth for an unfortunate own goal.
In a second-half that began at a calmer pace than the first, it was Weymouth who struck next on 58 minutes when Carmichael unleashed a rasping 25-yard shot into the bottom corner to give the Terras a two-goal cushion for the third time.
And Goodship added a fifth on 83 minutes after bypassing Upward, before Thomson completed the scoring in the 93rd minute to give Weymouth all three points.
