The first ever meeting between Weymouth and Hartley Wintney will see them lock horns in the Southern Premier League South on Saturday afternoon at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Weymouth, who are top of the table with 13 points after 6 games, are looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s 2-1 away defeat to Banbury United in the FA cup with a win against Hartley Wintney. Meanwhile the Row came back from 3-0 down against Beaconsfield to draw 3-3 and will be looking to continue that momentum when they visit the Terras.

Director of Football, Paul Maitland told theterras.com that he is urging the players to get back to winning ways, “We are disappointed to not go through in the Cup, after the league the FA Cup is the second most important competition. It was always going to tough against Banbury and it was close in both games, fine margins decided the tie ultimately.

“Saturday is an opportunity to get back on the bandwagon with the league. We want a reaction and the players will want to react. We have to get on with the main business which is the league.”

When asked about Saturday’s opposition, Maitland said, “You have to be impressed with the way that Hartley Wintney have started the league, we know about them and what they are about. We expect a difficult game, you don’t go to Poole and win without doing well.

“The big thing that I’ve gleaned from them is their home form is good and they might believe that it’s because people think ‘it’s little old Hartley Wintney’. They have clearly done something right to be at this level and we’ll show them respect but obviously this is a chance for us to bounce back.”

Hartley Wintney sit 6th in the table with 11 points and know a win against the Terras would see them leapfrog Weymouth and into the playoffs positions. A win for the Terras would see them continue their season at the top of the table.
